Celebrity Taylor Swift has been reaching all-new levels of fame following the success of her Eras Tour. However, not all is well, as Swift has reported that a stalker has prompted her to take legal action. Specifically, Taylor Swift has filed a restraining order against a 45-year-old man.

As noted via NBC News, Swift claims that the man “has been showing up at her Los Angeles homes for almost a year and claiming to be in a relationship with her.” The man, known as Brian Jason Wagner from Henderson, Colorado, is said to have caused Swift “emotional distress” as a result of his actions.

The outlet adds that he began to stalk the music superstar by visiting her home in July 2024. After his initial visit, he is said to have returned as many as three times within the same month. Security had to confront Wagner each time, and according to Swift, on one of these occasions he “was carrying a glass bottle that could have been used as a weapon.”

Swift wrote the following in her declaration:

“During each of these visits, I am informed that Mr. Wagner made various statements about living at my property (not true), being in a relationship with me (not true), believing I am the mother of his son (not true), and needing to see me in person, all of which are untrue and disconnected from reality,” she shared.

In more recent visits, as recent as last month, he continued to return to her Los Angeles home twice and according to Swift, Wagner stated to claim “he was there checking on a friend.” In response, Swift’s team ran a criminal history check on Wagner to learn that he was incarcerated in 2023. This is when he started to send Swift “lengthy communications” regarding his claims to be in a relationship with her and being close to her personal life.

One of Swift’s security team members added that Wagner made hundreds of communication attempts for Swift while being incarcerated, and that this prompted the team to create their own “security alert” regarding Wagner. As further shared by Swift:

“Mr. Wagner has also sent my staff hundreds of emails with similarly concerning and threatening language, tried to divert mail from my residence to his attention, and even lied to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to somehow change the address on his driver’s license to my Los Angeles home.”

Swift added the following statement in response to his actions which have increased in frequency regarding his communications to her staff:

“Therefore, the fact that Mr. Wagner has determined where I reside and visited the property several times, refusing to leave and claiming to need access, makes me fear for my safety and the safety of my family,” Swift said in her declaration. “The fact that both of these recent visits and Mr. Wagner’s inappropriate and threatening communications to my staff about me have escalated in recent weeks creates a fear of imminent harm.”

Swift insists that she does not know Wagner and that the two have never interacted and that she did not send him her address. A hearing date regarding the restraining order is scheduled to take place on June 30, with Taylor Swift being granted a temporary restraining order in the meantime. If the official restraining order is granted, then Wagner could be arrested as a result of violating it.
