In addition to Netflix‘s catalogue that includes some major exclusive shows, many of which are original IPs, there are quite a few that revive classic properties. One such property has finally been given the greenlight for a reboot, and with production finally starting, Netflix has unveiled the first look at the highly-anticipated series.
In addition to being a revival of an existing series, one that’s often considered one of the greatest television shows ever made, the original source material for both the previous and upcoming shows has been a successful book series.
The book series originally ran from 1932 to 1943, with an additional installment released posthumously in 1971. They were all penned by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The titles revolve around the author’s life between 1872 and 1894, making the television adaptations period pieces set in this very time period.
Here’s the first look at the cast for the reboot Netflix series based on the books, once again titled Little House on the Prairie:

The photo features cast members Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald, Alice Halsey, and Skywalker Hughes who will be portraying the respective members of the Ingalls family: Charles, Caroline, Laura, and Mary. Other cast members not featured include Jocko Sims as Dr. George Tann, Warren Christie as John Edwards, Wren Zhawenim Gotts as Good Eagle, Meegwun Fairbrother as Mitchell, and Alyssa Wapanatâhk as White Sun. Xander Cole will have a recurring role as Little Puma.
A release date for the Netflix reboot series Little House on the Prairie has yet to be announced. However, now that production has kicked off, fans can hope that there will be news on that front in the near future. For now, it’s exciting to see that the series has finally started production, especially since plans for this reboot have been discussed for more than a decade.
