The DC Universe will be fully kicked off with the release of James Gunn’s Superman. The new wave of franchise films and shows will take over from the failed attempt at a franchise prior, which started off with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Now with a toxic group of SnyderVerse fans attempting to boycott James Gunn’s Superman, Gunn has issued his own response.
Snyder fans have had varying levels of success with their attempts to restore Zack Snyder‘s vision for the DC franchise. Fans were able to convince Warner Bros. to allow Zack Snyder the opportunity to finish his own cut of Justice League. Further attempts failed, however, including their desire to have David Ayer’s original Suicide Squad cut released or their movement to have Zack Snyder create all-new Justice League sequels.
Now, some Snyder fans are attempting to simply ruin the fun for everyone, with a boycott being placed to ruin the success of James Gunn’s Superman. While the film is paving the way to be a behemoth at the box office, some fans are eager to disrupt its chances at being a success, with one fan on Reddit having shared the following message that has since been deleted via CBM:
“Fight for our Snyderverse on the imposter Superman release day. Here’s what we can do to make a difference
1. Post spoilers everywhere. People are less likely to see or enjoy the movie if it’s already spoiled
2. Leave bad rating on review sites. We know for sure gunbots will post fake positive reviews so we must let people know the truth and balance the bias out with realistic scores.
3. Reserve tickets online but don’t complete the purchase. By selecting and reserving tickets, it gets taken out of the pool for a period of time which means this has a chance of stopping gunbots from buying tickets
Gun fired the first shot and killed the Snyderverse and here is our chance to take the fight back to him.”
While some fans are acknowledging the toxic behavior and apologizing on behalf of the Zack Snyder fanbase, and others are worried that it could have an impact on Superman, Gunn doesn’t seem to have any worries. In fact, he made a response on Threads to note that “we’ll survive.”
“lol I think we’ll survive. I’m not sure the eight people that listen to that guy (I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it’s a guy) are going to impact the course of events.”
