The release of the new DCU endeavor Superman has everyone talking – either for or against the movie. One common topic has been the alteration to Superman’s motto, which once ended with “the American way” and now concludes with “a better tomorrow” in the new movie. In response to this, not only has the original motto been added to a photoshopped Superman poster shared by the White House on social media, but Donald Trump has been made into Superman.
The motto has been altered for the character for years, with different comics issuing similar statements to “a better tomorrow” to accommodate for Superman being a global symbol rather than solely acting for America. Nevertheless, it’s become a common debate, and one that has been amplified after director James Gunn called Superman an “immigrant” due to the fact he’s an alien from another planet.
The amplified debate was no doubt the cause for the new poster to be shared by the White House on social media, in addition to the recent popularity of the film in theaters, and it can be seen below as shared on X:
THE SYMBOL OF HOPE.
TRUTH. JUSTICE. THE AMERICAN WAY.

In addition to the post’s caption, which also mentions “SUPERMAN TRUMP,” the poster repeats the motto with “the American way” intact:
“Truth, Justice, and the American way.”
The poster includes “A Trump Presidency” at the top and a watermark at the bottom featuring the endorsement of the White House. With nearly 80,000 likes at the time of this writing, comments range from support shown by Trump fans and negative criticisms against Trump that also point out the irony in comparing him to Superman since the fictional character was, in fact, an alien from another world.
James Gunn’s Superman is currently playing in theaters. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more Superman news and any other developments regarding the DC Universe as we have them.
