The Harry Potter brand is once again being adapted – this time as an all-new television series on HBO. The popular book series created by J.K. Rowling was previously adapted as a series of feature films, though Warner Bros. Discovery is eager to reinvent the property with the new series. As you can see below, production on the Harry Potter series has started, and fans can see the first look at the show’s titular character.
Dominic McLaughlin plays Harry Potter in the new series, with the role having been previously played by Daniel Radcliffe in the feature films. More than 30,000 actors were auditioned for the parts of Harry and his two friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, and McLaughlin won the part for his respective character. Alastair Stout will play Ron and Arabella Stanton will play Hermione.

Plans for the new series include adaptations of each book in the series as a season of the show. As such, the first season of Harry Potter will adapt Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Francesca Gardiner will serve as showrunner while Mark Mylod directs.
In addition to the cast members mentioned above, the series will also star John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. Rory Wilmot will be appearing as Nevile Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.
