Netflix subscribers might be disappointed to learn about the fate of a Top 10 series. While the new show performed well enough on the streaming platform to earn a spot on its Top 10 category, becoming one of the most popular shows available to stream on Netflix, it was still just announced that the platform canceled the series with only one season.
Many shows are often being canceled by Netflix, as is standard with a company that must renew shows based on profits and costs, and it seems as though some shows just don’t do well enough to justify receiving an additional season. Now this series, released earlier this year, is similarly being axed by Netflix following the release of a single season on their streaming platform.
The decision may not be all that surprising, however, especially in the case of this particular series. While ratings play an important factor and this series did break into the streaming platform’s Top 10 category, it also received mixed-to-negative reviews from viewers. This kind of word-of-mouth can kill any hype for an additional season, and it seems that was the case for this series.
The show, titled Pulse, is a medical drama series and the first English-language medical drama series to be released by Netflix as an original. Unfortunately, it didn’t seem to connect with viewers, and there were many criticisms made against its characters and storylines. And, considering there’s an ongoing market with numerous other medical dramas competing with one another, it might make sense that Netflix didn’t want to continue Pulse for another season.
Sadly, this means that fans of the series will have to endure a premature cancellation. And, as is the norm with such situations, this leaves Pulse with something of a cliffhanger ending and several unanswered storylines. While there might not be any insight on that front, fans can still revisit the one season available on Netflix.
