    Marvel Introducing MCU’s First Female Iron Fist

    It's been officially confirmed that Marvel will be introducing the MCU's first female Iron Fist in an upcoming project.

    One trend that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been following as of late has been the introduction of different characters as familiar superheroes. As such, an upcoming MCU project will introduce the first female Iron Fist to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – something fans have speculated could be happening for quite some time now.

    The MCU series Iron Fist introduced the franchise’s first version of the character, played by Finn Jones, who was known as Danny Rand when he wasn’t using the Iron Fist moniker. The show was one of several MCU shows on Netflix that was canceled and later brought over to Disney Plus.

    Now it looks like Marvel is gradually preparing a comeback for the character in the same way they brought Charlie Cox back as Daredevil in several projects before releasing Daredevil: Born Again. This time, however, they seem to be taking a very different strategy for their reintroduction of Iron Fist by giving fans a whole new version of the character first.

    As shared below, voice actress Jona Xiao confirmed that she’ll be playing “the MCU’s 1st ever female Iron Fist” while attending 2025’s San Diego Comic-Con. In addition to being “so stoked” to play the role, she confirmed that fans will see her take on the character in the upcoming Disney Plus series Eyes of Wakanda.

    It’s currently unknown which specific Iron Fist Xiao could be playing, as there have been several female versions of the character in the comics. Though the series is said to take place prior to the MCU as we know it, so she would have to be a version that predates Danny Rand’s takeover of the mantle. One could assume that this would be Wu Ao-Shi, a version of the character from the 16th Century, though that remains to be seen.
