The horror genre is built around numerous subgenres with a variety of different styles and tropes. Of course, the slasher genre remains one of the most endearing subgenres for fans, and now a list puts together the slasher villain with the highest kill count.
As shared via Dread Central, they’ve done the math to figure out which slasher villain reigns supreme. The numbers for each slasher villain were put together using all of their respective franchise installments. This includes both remakes and, in the case of Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees, the crossover film Freddy vs. Jason. In fact, Freddy’s kill count also uses the television series Freddy’s Nightmares.
The publication also notes that there were different sources regarding the kill counts of both Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees. The final numbers they proceeded with are rather close as a result. But fret not – there is a clear winner. Here’s the list that they’ve created:
#5 Freddy Krueger – Kill Count: 63
#4 Victor Crowley – Kill Count: 64
#3 Chucky – Kill Count: 67
#2 Michael Myers – Kill Count: 160
#1 Jason Voorhees – Kill Count: 163
As you can see, Jason Voorhees happens to be the winner on this list, albeit only slightly. Though it’s worth noting that there are thirteen Halloween movies and only twelve Friday the 13th movies, and that’s including a crossover. So once Jason Voorhees gets the opportunity to rise again – it could very well be further in his favor with a landslide. Until then, the two silent killers will have to share the top space together.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional horror updates as we have them. In the meantime, this gives fans an opportunity to look back at their favorite villains, and see how their kill counts compare with one another. In fact, the numbers are quite impressive, especially considering some villains are more active in the genre right now than others.
