It looks like Disney has vowed to work with Gina Carano again after settling the lawsuit which followed her firing from The Mandalorian.

The decision to fire Gina Carano from The Mandalorian shook the entertainment industry. It went so far, in fact, that Carano began a massive lawsuit with Disney and Lucasfilm over her termination. Now it looks like the lawsuit has been settled, and furthermore, Disney is now vowing to work with Gina Carano in the future.

It’s certainly a surprising change in direction, especially with how adamant the studio was about firing her in the first place. With the chaos of the last few years, however, it looks like both parties have finally come to an agreement. While details are scarce, Lucasfilm did issue a statement on the matter.

As shared by a Lucasfilm spokesperson via THR:

“With this lawsuit concluded, we look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future.”

“We have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies,” the spokesperson added. “Ms. Carano was always well respected by her directors, co-stars, and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her craft while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect.”

As for Carano, she issued her own statement, emphasizing that this new settlement contains the “best outcome for all parties involved.” She also added that “my desires remain in the arts.” Here’s the full statement where she also thanked Elon Musk for his support in her side of the lawsuit:

“I have come to an agreement with Disney/Lucasfilm which I believe is the best outcome for all parties involved. I hope this brings some healing to the force.

I want to extend my deepest most heartfelt gratitude to Elon Musk, a man I’ve never met, who did this Good Samaritan deed for me in funding my lawsuit.

Thank you Mr. Musk and X for backing my case and asking for nothing in return.

To my lawyers at Schaerr|Jaffe who walked me through this unknown territory, thank you for your wisdom and guidance.

I am humbled and grateful to God for His love and grace in this outcome.

I’d like to thank you all for your unrelenting support throughout my life and career, you’ve been the heartbeat that has kept my story alive. I hope to make you proud.

I am excited to flip the page and move onto the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, which is where I hope you will join me.

    Yes, I’m smiling.”

The decision to fire Gina Carano from The Mandalorian further removed her from any other Disney projects and shows, including other planned appearances in the Star Wars universe. One such spin-off would have been a Disney Plus series titled Rangers of the New Republic. It’s a decision that sparked backlash and divisiveness since it went into play in 2021, enough so that Elon Musk used X to help fund Carano’s lawsuit against Disney.

With both parties now on mutual terms, however, we’ll have to see what this means for Gina Carano and Disney going forward – and whether or not she’ll make a further return to the Star Wars franchise in particular. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on this situation as we have them.
