The Marvel Studios machine never really slows down. The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow with every new theatrical release and Disney Plus project, giving fans a constant stream of stories set in the shared superhero world. But among the many upcoming projects on the slate, one stands out as the most anticipated: Avengers: Doomsday.

Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the next Avengers team-up is currently slated to hit theaters this December, and excitement is already building. Now, a new rumor suggests the blockbuster may have already held an early internal test screening – and the reported reactions are raising some eyebrows.

Official details about Avengers: Doomsday remain surprisingly scarce, especially for a film of this scale. Marvel has confirmed the project and teased its massive ensemble, but plot specifics are still under tight wraps. As a result, speculation has filled the vacuum. Fans who have followed the franchise for years – carefully watching the Marvel movies in order – are eager to see how the film’s stacked cast will interact and what the next major Avengers storyline might look like.

Recently, insider account MTTSH shared a report claiming that Marvel may have already screened an early version of the film internally. According to the rumor, the studio showed a pre-reshoot cut of the movie to a small group that included Kevin Feige and select members of the studio’s staff. The alleged reaction? Extremely positive.

That’s a bold claim, especially given the number of beloved entries already in the franchise. Over the years, Marvel has delivered several critically acclaimed and massively successful movies, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Black Panther, and the cultural juggernaut Avengers: Endgame, which famously became the highest-grossing movie of all time during its theatrical run. If Doomsday truly manages to top those fan favorites, audiences could be in for something very special when it finally arrives in theaters.

Still, it’s important to keep expectations in check for now. As with many early reports circulating online, this claim should be taken with a healthy grain of salt. Test screenings – especially internal ones – are common during the filmmaking process, and the version reportedly shown was said to be before reshoots. With additional filming and editing still underway, the final cut of Avengers: Doomsday could look quite different from what was allegedly screened.

Even so, the rumor is an encouraging one for Marvel fans. If early internal reactions really are that positive, it suggests the studio may be confident in its next Avengers installment. And with anticipation already sky-high for the next major crossover event in the MCU, even whispers of strong early buzz are enough to get fans even more excited for what could be one of the biggest movie events of the year.
