One of the biggest complaints about Warner Bros. latest entry to the DCEU, Suicide Squad, was the distinct lack of screen time for Jared Leto’s Joker. Although it sounds like many of his scenes found there way to the cutting room floor based on a list of rumored deleted scenes you can find here – that hasn’t stopped the actor from discussing what he would like to see next for the clown prince of crime.
Whilst promoting the new film on BBC Radio 5, the Oscar winning actor was asked which other villains he would like to see The Joker team-up with. The actors response however was surprising, revealing that he would like to see his character join forces with Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader. He told the host:
“I think that the most compelling character to team up with would be Batman, I know he’s not a villain, but it would just be so much fun.”
He then went on to reveal a bit about his role in the film:
“The thing about this film is, for a lot of people, the Joker is exciting when he’s pulling the strings.”
Before adding:
“In this film, it’s more of an introduction to the Joker. As the film stands now, it’s much more of a supporting part than a lot of people may have assumed. It feels like there could be more to come.”
However before we can start talking about what we can see in the future, we have to know that the character will actually have a future in the universe. In regards to this, Leto explained:
I think it entirely depends upon the response of the public, If they respond to this Joker, I can imagine the Joker coming back. But if they don’t, I certainly wouldn’t want to overstay my welcome.”

It would certainly be great to see Leto’s Joker back, especially if it saw him sharing the screen with Ben Affleck’s Batman, either as enemies or as part of an uneasy partnership.
You can see Leto’s take on The Joker in Suicide Squad, which is currently playing in theaters.
