Growing up a film and television fan in the wonderful state of Massachusetts, he grew a strong attachment to personal dramas. Teaming up his fandom for the world of entertainment along with his love of writing was just an all too natural fit for Matt. He can be often found at the local cineplex, eating at the local restaurants or playing basketball at any basketball court across Mass.

It’s been twenty years since Danny Boyle’s transcending drug-filled flick Trainspotting hit theaters. To this day, audiences revere the movie for its mix of dark comedy and an all-to-real portrait of drug use. As unexpected as it may be, there is a sequel on the way. At first, I questioned the concept of a sequel to Trainspotting. Sure, the original is a great film, but what exactly would inspire Boyle and the cast to continue the series. Based on this trailer however, I am quite excited for the prospect of this film. Danny Boyle has been my favorite director for some time, and his skill is…

Opening in theaters this weekend, Doctor Strange is already been revered as one of Marvel’s more unique and better entries in its cinematic universe. The film is already Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, scoring an impressive 90% rating from the site so far. Not everyone appears to be on board however. The film, which follows Stephen Strange’s journey into become a master of the mystic arts, has received a fairly strong negative reaction from Christian critic Dr. Baehr, who issued a press release against the film: [Doctor Strange is] a dangerous introduction to demonic occult deception. … The Bible clearly warns against…

Thinking back, most people probably do not remember much about Escape Plan. The 2013 action flick starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger failed to garner much attention from audiences in the states (earned only 25 million). However, due to the film earning an impressive 137 million worldwide, it looks like we have a sequel on its way. Currently in development from Oasis Films, it appears that Stallone is set to return as Ray Breslin, but will be taking a backseat in a supporting role. Scribe Miles Chapman, who wrote the original film, is returning for the sequel. For those who haven’t seen Escape…

Much talk has been made about the future of the DC Universe, especially after a shaky 2016 slate. Both Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad were universally panned by critics and disappointed most audiences. With both films being essential building blocks, Warner Brothers is becoming extra-protective with their universe. Perhaps a sign of that studio involvement is the latest news on the standalone Flash movie. Dope director Rick Famuyiwa has left the project, with it being reported that “creative differences” led to his departure. Famuyiwa gave a statement to The Hollywood Reporter following the news: “When I was approached by Warner Bros and DC about the possibility of…

With only one new release entering theaters, expectations were for that film to dominate the weekend. It seems that Madea had other plans though, repeating in the top spot. Boo! A Madea Halloween earned 16.7 million dollars this weekend. A 41% drop off from last weekend is impressive, with it being clear that both the Halloween tie-in and positive audience reviews have helped a great deal. Just when many thought Tyler Perry’s star power was beginning to fade, he releases what is on track to be his second-highest grossing film (Madea’s Witness Protection currently is with 65 million). Boo has earned 52 million dollars so…

Dan Brown, while criticized in many circles, has crafted some of the most popular novels of the millennium. With them packing intense thrills along with an ancient mystery, novels like The DaVinci Code and Angles and Demons. One would think that kind of formula would create some good films, but both Code and Demons were largely mediocre thrillers, despite the presence of star Tom Hanks. After seven years since the last entry, we have another Brown novel adapted to film with Inferno. Similar to the previous entries, the film follows Robert Langdon, who starts the film in a hospital with…

Many fans were shocked by the news of Tim Miller’s departure from Deadpool 2. His direction of Deadpool, which was actually his directorial debut, was a key component of the film’s success. He maximized his fairly miniscule budget, creating a film that captured the essence of the character with style. Since his departure, much speculation has been made to who will take the helm of the sequel. The rumor mill has swirled with several big names, with a pretention even being crafted for the great Quentin Tarrentino to direct the feature. Much of this, however, is merely speculation, with Fox…

James Woods is pretty infamous for being one of Hollywood’s most eccentric personalities, with eccentric putting it nicely. I was happy to have an interview with Marty Langford, a Springfield Massachusetts native who has directed DOOMED: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four. Along with that, Langford has had years of experience in film, as well as being a professor at AIC. What made you want to make this movie? I know from your background you were a huge superhero fan, but what made you want to get this story out to the public? Well I’ve known about the story for forever. I had a friend (Mark Sipes) who I worked with in a Comic Book store back…

With superheroes getting these huge shared universes, Universal is continuing its movement to try and create a universe of their own. Instead of superheroes however, Universal is using the classic monster characters, with Tom Cruise set to star in The Mummy as well as Johnny Depp in The Invisible Man. It looks like Universal is expanding their planned universe even further, announcing the addition of a Van Helsing film. This was confirmed by screenwriter Eric Heisserer (scribe of Lights Out and Arrival), who in an interview stated: It is [part of the shared universe] right now. This is early in the process, and it’s evolutionary. I…
