Netflix and Marvel have officially dropped the first teaser for Marvel’s Jessica Jones, confirming that the series will premiere on November 20th. While the teaser doesn’t offer much in terms of plot or footage, it sets the mood perfectly — dark, mysterious, and full of gritty noir energy. It’s a short clip, but enough to stir up curiosity around the show’s tone and direction.

The teaser keeps most details close to the chest, but we do know a few things going into the premiere. Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica Jones, a former superhero turned private investigator struggling with trauma and trying to keep a low profile in New York City. The series also marks the first appearance of Luke Cage, played by Mike Colter, who will later headline his own show. David Tennant is confirmed as the series’ villain, Kilgrave — a.k.a. the Purple Man — known in the comics for his chilling mind control abilities.

Following the success of Daredevil, Jessica Jones is Marvel’s next step in building a darker, more grounded corner of its universe exclusively on Netflix. It’s all part of the plan leading up to The Defenders, a crossover series featuring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Speaking of which, while fans are still waiting to see how Marvel will approach Iron Fist, the pieces are clearly coming together — and if all goes well, The Punisher won’t be far behind either.

There’s a lot riding on this release. Jessica Jones is one of Marvel’s more complex and layered characters, and this adaptation has the chance to dig deeper than most superhero shows dare to go. With a psychological thriller tone, mature themes, and a heavy emphasis on character development, this could easily set a new bar for comic-based TV storytelling.

The countdown is on. November 20th isn’t far away, and expectations are high. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the character or just diving into Marvel’s Netflix universe for the first time, Jessica Jones looks like a must-watch.

Will you be tuning in when it drops? Let us know your thoughts — especially if you’re hoping for a few surprise appearances when it hits Netflix.
