Thor 3 Has The Darkest Marvel Script Yet

It looks like 'Thor 3' could have the darkest Marvel script yet - something fans have been hoping for.

Those who were disappointed by the lighter tone of Thor: The Dark World may have reason to feel optimistic about where Marvel is heading with the character’s third solo outing. While details remain limited, early reports suggest that the studio is planning something noticeably different for the God of Thunder’s next chapter.

According to Birth.Movies.Death’s Dave Faraci, director Taika Waititi — best known for his work on What We Do in the Shadows — has been brought on board in part to help balance what is reportedly a much darker script. The screenplay, written by Christopher Yost, has been described as having a “post-apocalyptic vibe,” which would mark a significant tonal shift from the previous two films.

While Marvel Studios is known for its signature blend of action and humor, it appears the studio may be exploring heavier themes this time around, with Waititi helping to ensure the film still retains the charm and personality fans have come to expect.

This potential change in tone has already sparked plenty of speculation among fans, particularly regarding what it could mean for Thor’s character moving forward. After the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor’s future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe appears more uncertain than ever, and a darker storyline could open the door to new challenges and unexpected developments.

Faraci also commented on recent rumors suggesting that Hulk could appear alongside Thor in the upcoming film. Reports have described the possibility of the two heroes embarking on a “cosmic road trip,” which would see them venturing far beyond Earth. Such a storyline would not only expand the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but also give fans another opportunity to see the dynamic between Thor and Hulk explored in greater depth.

There has also been speculation that their journey could bring them into contact with the Valkyries, including the iconic Marvel heroine Valkyrie herself. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the introduction of characters like Valkyrie — and possibly even classic Thor villains such as The Enchantress — would represent a major expansion of Thor’s world.

For now, much of the Thor 3 movie remains shrouded in mystery. However, based on these early reports, it appears Marvel Studios may be preparing to take Thor in a bold and unexpected new direction.
