It’s been rumored for a while now that Woody Harrelson is playing Carnage in the upcoming Venom movie. While we don’t know for certain if that’s the case, it could make sense, given his prior crazy roles in films. For anyone who knows Carnage, they know that Cletus Kasady is an insane character, and there definitely shouldn’t be any holding back in a movie. Sure, the Spider-Man animated series was tame, but it got a lot of things right. If Venom is Rated-R, there’s no excuse.
Word of the latest rumor apparently got to the co-creator of Carnage, David Michelinie, who likes the idea:
“Huh. This screamed “April Fool!” at first, but I checked two listings on IMDB–for the Venom movie and Harrelson’s own page–and they both list him as being in the flick. And I don’t think IMDB is into practical jokes. Harrelson’s a good actor, and has a decent range. He’s played nutso characters in the past, but I guess we’ll have to wait until October to see just how far he can ramp it up. Fingers crossed.”
It definitely would be an interesting concept, and we’re sure someone will be coming up with some fan art any moment. We’ll know for sure who Harrelson is playing when Venom hits theaters on October 5th.
