‘Wrong Turn’ Reboot Has Wrapped Production; Director Promises “Madness”

The Wrong Turn horror film franchise has endured a plethora of installments over the years. There have been sequels, prequels, and movies in between that have attempted keeping the story alive and fans have supported every entry since. Now it’s time for the franchise’s first major reboot from Constantin Films and director Mike P. Nelson. And, to many horror films fans’ delight, Mike P. Nelson has revealed that the new Wrong Turn has wrapped production.

In fact, he’s shared a new image on Instagram and a neat little post explaining how great the shoot had gone.

“The last three months have been absolutely insane. I can’t wait to show you all what we have been creating. Movie #2 blessed me yet again with such an amazing crew and a cast that carried the weight of this beast. Long nights in the woods, moldy caverns, moss covered boulders and skulls was our world for the hasty and dense 26 day shoot. This project was also special as it reunited me with my good friend, DP and collaborator @njunkersfeld. Over the last 10 years Nick and I have been creating madness in Minnesota and I cannot wait to show you the madness we have created in Ohio with this one. Now onto the edit!”

While we have yet to have seen much of the upcoming reboot, now that Wrong Turn has wrapped we should expect to learn more about the film. Until then, the plot sounds like a rather interesting twist on traditional concepts from the franchise.

In the new Wrong Turn reboot…

“The updated version is described as a timely and topical meditation on society and its issues. A cross-country hiking expedition puts a group of friends in the land of an inclusive society, where they soon discover they are under a different rule of law, and may not be the victims they thought they were.”

The original Wrong Turn writer Alan McElroy returned to pen the script used by director Mike P. Nelson.

The new film stars Matthew Modine (“Stranger Things”, 47 Meters Down), Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night, Haunt), Bill Sage (“Hap and Leonard”), Emma Dumont (“The Gifted”), Valerie Jane Parker (“Greenleaf”), Chaney Morrow (Haunt) and David Hutchinson (“American Horror Story”).

Dylan McTee, Adrian Favela, Adain Bradley, Jeremy Ambler, Cory Scott Allen, Gary Ray Stearns, Rhyan Elizabeth Hanavan, Vardaan Arora, Mark Mench, Joshua Stephen Campbell, Jennie Malone, Brian James Fitzpatrick and Mark Angel also star.

The Wrong Turn reboot should be out sometime in 2020.
