At a time when PornHub seems to be as popular as the many blockbuster films it often parodies in its content, there may be no one who ever expected to see the website targeted against like it has been recently. It appears one deaf man was so upset with the site’s lack of closed captioning for those that suffer with hearing disabilities, that he opted to simply sue PornHub.
As revealed by TMZ, the man doing the suing is Yaroslav Suris, and his claim regarding PornHub is that “it’s denied the deaf and hearing-impaired access to its videos that others can easily enjoy.” According to the resulting court documents, “Suris says a lack of closed captioning violates their rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act.”
And that isn’t everything included in the court documents. They actually list several videos that Yaroslav Suris found useless to watch without the benefit of closed captioning. The list of films includes the following:
“Hot Step Aunt Babysits Disobedient Nephew,” “Sexy Cop Gets Witness to Talk,” and “Daddy 4K — Allison comes to Talk About Money to Her Boys’ Naughty Father”.
As stated, Suris couldn’t follow their plots due to the lack of closed captioning. And because of this, he says, he and many other deaf people would never sign up for PornHub’s premium service simply because they do not offer closed captioning.
PornHub has responded by saying:
“We understand that Yaroslav Suris is suing Pornhub for claiming we’ve denied the deaf and hearing impaired access to our videos. While we do not generally comment on active lawsuits, we’d like to take this opportunity to point out that we do have a closed captions category.”
The amount of money that Yaroslav Suris is suing for is undisclosed, and on top of that he wants PornHub to add closed captioning to their website. It will be interesting to see if the lawsuit really does promote the use of closed captioning on adult film sites.
