‘Psycho Goreman’ Trailer Promises Insane R-Rated Monster Action

    By Jacob DresslerMarch 6, 2020

Many horror fans have been excited for director Steven Kostanski’s next project, especially after his films The Void and Leprechaun Returns left quite a mark on the genre community over the last few years. And by the looks of the newly released trailer – his new film Psycho Goreman does not look like it will disappoint. In fact, the footage is loaded to the brim with maniacal monster mayhem and buckets of gore!

As you can see in the Psycho Goreman trailer, the film has a somewhat conventional plot at first – with two young kids making friends with an alien life form. But then it takes an exciting twist by creating an over-the-top monster bash with all the R rated violence you could hope for.

Here’s what the director had to say about the conception of Psycho Goreman – aka PG – via Bloody-Disgusting:

“The core concept of ‘PG’ is something I’ve carried with me for as long as I can remember,” explains Kostanski. “What would it be like to have your own monster? As a kid, I was mesmerized by the relationship between John Connor and the T-800 in Terminator 2 and the way this relatable kid could suddenly have a badass villain as his pal. I would fantasize about hanging out with the likes of Skeletor, Megatron, Cobra Commander, and every other Saturday morning cartoon villain. These characters always interested me more than the traditional heroes.”

As you can see, however, the movie is far from being a kids film. As Kostanski further explained:

“I enjoy subverting the safe space of the ‘kids movie’ genre with shocking violence and real world consequences. This is a theme I applied in my ABC’s of Death 2 segment W is for Wish. With PG, I’ve pushed this idea to more imaginative and brutal heights, recreating the deranged scenarios I used to make up while playing in the backyard as a kid.”

It definitely looks an exciting new reinvention of familiar subgenres and tropes by way of Kostanski’s beautifully twisted sense of creativity.

Psycho Goreman is set to premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas this month on Friday the 13th.
