After nearly a decade since Scream 4 hit theaters, it was finally announced that we would be getting Scream 5. Although the wait for the new sequel to receive the greenlight took some time, filming is currently already underway. As a result, stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courteney Cox are back as their iconic characters from the original four installments of the Scream film franchise. In fact, some new photos have been released which reveal actress Courteney Cox on the Scream 5 set, once again reprising her iconic role as reporter Gale Weathers.
As you can see in the below photos, Courteney Cox is definitely looking the part as her classic Scream character. This should be yet another reassuring element for any Scream fans that have been skeptical about the new movie. Hopefully we’ll continue to get glimpses into the production as shooting continues.

It’s been quite some time without a new Scream film, and it’s difficult to see one being made without the involvement of Wes Craven. But so far it seems that all of the individuals currently involved with the film are taking the right steps to be respectful to his original vision and the legacy of his Scream films.
Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will be directing Scream 5, taking over for the late Wes Craven who directed the original four Scream films. James Vanderbilt wrote the script with Guy Busick. It has also been revealed that original Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson is executive producing alongside Chad Villella. Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak are serving as producers on the film.
The rest of the film’s cast includes Dylan Minnette, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mikey Madison, Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, and Jenna Ortega. Marley Shelton will also rejoin the cast as her Scream 4 character, Deputy Judy Hicks.
If all goes as planned, Scream 5 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on January 14, 2022.
