Daredevil Rights Officially Revert Back To Marvel Studios

Marvel fans were very upset when they found out that Netflix had cancelled Daredevil – as the show’s third season ended with a major cliffhanger, and was regarded as one of the best seasons of the series. It wasn’t cancelled due to quality – it was cancelled due to Disney starting up a streaming service in Disney Plus – and Netflix immediately viewing them as a competitor. It was actually one of Netflix’s most popular shows. All of the Marvel Netflix original shows in The Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Defenders were cancelled – leaving fans wondering what’s next. Well, it appears that Daredevil is officially back at Marvel Studios – and the others are likely to follow soon.

With the rights reverting back to Marvel, fans have become even more vocal about their desire to see Daredevil return. The #SaveDaredevil campaign started the second Netflix cancelled the series, and has been going full force ever since – which is really a true testament to how much fans really enjoyed it.

Stars of the show have said they’re on board with a return, with Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio recently endorsing a petition for bringing the series back:

While the rights may be back at Marvel Studios, it’s uncertain exactly what will happen with the characters. Kevin Feige was never really involved with the Netflix shows, and has shown in the past that he wants to do things exactly his way when it comes to bringing these characters to life. However, we did see JK Simmons return as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: Far From Home (in a rebooted sort of way) so who is to say that we won’t see Charlie Cox return as Daredevil or other characters from the shows? A soft reboot with the same actors is something that could potentially happen, but for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
