So much new information came out of the Disney Investors Day Event yesterday. Just from Marvel Studios alone, we got insight and updates to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 and beyond. And, with all the information we got, we also got so much more that went unsaid. Whether its Easter Eggs in the released footage or off handed comments that may or may not point to additions/connections to other properties, Marvel is chocked full of secrets. One such is the cast of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness aka Doctor Strange 2 and the film’s connection to Spider-Man 3 and WandaVision!
Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, debuts March 25, 2022. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, & Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film ties to WandaVision & the next Spider-Man film.

First off, while it has been long rumored that Rachel McAdams would not be returning to the MCU, this has turned out to be false as she is now confirmed to be back for the sequel. The next major intel came in the confirmation of long speculated character, America Chavez! America Chavez is another Young Avenger coming into the MCU fold, and her abilities revolve around teleporting through the multiverse. She will be played by Xochitl Gomez. The biggest piece of information came, though, in this movie’s direct tie-in to the upcoming Spider-Man 3! And while that is amazing news enough, if you read between the lines, this all but confirms the live action Spider-Verse that has been teased and rumored for months now.
With all the casting additions to the third Spidey flick, and Doctor Strange 2 flat out telling you it’s a multiverse adventure in its very title, we can now safely assume that the Sorcerer Supreme will be more than a mentor to young Peter Parker, but rather a guide through the multiverse. The possible plot could see the newly framed Spidey joining Strange as they hop through multiple worlds, seeking the advice and help of other Spider-Men whilst also dealing with new incarnations of previously seen villains like Doctor Octopus and Electro.
Lord know there is a lot to take in after this week, and ScreenGeek will do its best to break everything down for you all and explain it as best as we can with official confirmations and proper context clues!
