At one point it seemed unlikely that we’d ever get one Jumanji sequel, much less two. Now it appears talks are indeed happening for Jumanji 4, and producer Hiram Garcia is happy to share the details. Hiram Garcia is President of Production at Seven Bucks Productions, and he insists that not only are talks “100%” happening, but that there is also going to be something big for the next installment.
Here’s what Hiram Garcia specifically said while speaking with ComicBook:
“You know, we’re always having conversations, and that’s a family, that entire group if there’s ever been. It’s hard to imagine or remember a time I’ve been on a set where it’s just a beloved group of cast and crew and actors and that’s just one of those things where we know we have a really big idea that we want to do with it. We’ve been discussing it.”‘
There’s clearly room for another entry in the franchise. After all, not only did the third movie have a mid-credits scene which seemed to tease the possibilities for a fourth film, but the sequels have overall done really well with fans. It wouldn’t really make much sense to end the franchise so prematurely. And while Garcia couldn’t reveal too many potential plot details, he did mention that there are “big plans.” As he stated:
“There’s conversations have been going we’re in the process of moving that along. I can’t tell you anything, but we do have big plans for it and that’s one of our favorite projects to work on and that’s cooking away.”
It seems fair to say then that there’s a high likelihood of Jumanji 4 happening, and that the current era of Jumanji is bound to be continued. Fans of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level should no doubt be pleased to hear as much. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon, so as always, stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any updates as we have them.
