Ryan Reynolds Reportedly Doesn’t Want To Work With Scarlett Johansson In The MCU

At one point in time, it seemed unlikely that actor Ryan Reynolds would ever get his chance to shine as the character Deadpool in a solo-film. He proved audiences wrong when Fox finally greenlit and released not just Deadpool, but the equally successful sequel Deadpool 2. Things have since continued to get exciting on that front, as Disney acquired Fox and thus the rights to the Deadpool film franchise. This meant that the iconic Merc with a Mouth could finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, however, it looks like Ryan Reynolds has a few stipulations – one of which involves Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson.

As reported by insider Daniel Richtman, it looks like Ryan Reynolds is attempting to avoid working with Scarlett Johansson on any MCU projects. Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson were at one point in their lives married together. Now that the two are separated, however, it seems that Ryan Reynolds would much rather avoid working with her than be on the same project together.

While exact reasons why aren’t exactly given, it does appear that it’s more than likely just due to the awkwardness or upsetting feelings of having once been married. Which, to be fair, isn’t exactly a difficult concept to understand. Especially if the Deadpool actor just wants to make sure there’s a smooth production for everyone involved with any future movies.

Of course, many ex celebrity couples in the past have still managed to work together. So there’s always the possibility that Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson could reconcile on a professional level. Or, with some clever editing, they might even be able to appear in the same movie without ever having to be on the same set together. And as always, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, so perhaps there isn’t anything going on between the two after all.

Regardless, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow character is so far dead within the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. Aside from her upcoming solo-film, there isn’t much of a reason to expect her and Ryan Reynolds to have an opportunity together anyways. Then again, with the ongoing multiverse plots that are being built up, anything could happen. So we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
