If you haven’t watched the last episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, then we have to warn you, there are going to be spoilers ahead. If you’re still here, you know that the finale episode of the Disney Plus series saw Falcon officially become Captain America. Yesterday, following that big episode, it was revealed that we would be getting Captain America 4 from Malcom Spellman and Dalan Musson – and starring Anthony Mackie. Fans are obviously pretty excited about it – as well as Mackie himself.
Following the news, Anthony Mackie posted a message following the big news:
What a Friday it has been… thank you to everyone who’s seen The Falcon and The Winter Soldier!

Malcolm Spellman had previously discussed the importance of a black Captain America in an interview, saying:
“The idea of whether or not a Black man could become Captain America just felt like a huge moment and a huge opportunity.”
Kevin Feige also discussed it, saying:
“He’s a man, and he’s an African American man. He’s got experience in the military, he’s got experience doing grief counseling with soldiers with PTSD. That’s how Steve Rogers initially developed this friendship with him. What’s so great about the move to Disney Plus long form is that we get to see much more of these characters. Mackie has this amazing presence, whether he’s on screen for six seconds or six hours. In “Endgame,” it was closer to six seconds. All along we’ve been asking, “Where did he grow up? Who is his family?” We want to know more about this guy being thrown into this situation and handling it spectacularly well considering he’s just a man. That’s what the show is about. This man, this Black man in particular, in the Marvel version of the world outside our window.”
Captain America 4 doesn’t currently have a release date, but The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
