The Flash is set to rewrite and unite the DCEU in a huge way. With the return of the great Michael Keaton as Batman, Ben Affleck also returning as Batman, the introduction of Supergirl, and multiple Ezra Miller Flashes, this movie looks to bring timeline insanity to the big screen. A seemingly loose adaptation to the amazing Flashpoint Paradox storyline from the comics, the film is still in production. But, thanks to the DC FanDome, we finally have a teaser of the film and our first look at the new Flash suit, the iconic Flash ring, and Keaton’s voice and silhouette on screen as the Dark Knight once again!
The clip is short, but does reveal quite a bit. As Keaton’s Bruce Wayne asks Barry Allen why is he fighting for this timeline when he can go to any timeline and have it all, we see Miller’s Flash in his new suit, approaching his slain mother’s home.
We even see him approach a very much alive Mother Allen, meaning he has made the save that ultimately changes both the future and the past in massive ways. We also see two versions of Barry approach a disheveled Wayne Manor, one that has been seemingly abandoned. It is here that it would seem that Allen is looking for Batman to help him fix what he has done. But he finds a different Bruce than the one he knows.
The film is still in production, but it was great to finally see some scenes from the upcoming movie and get a feel for what is to come. And, while we didn’t actually see Keaton on screen, we did see his cowl and a major tease of the original Batmobile from the ‘89 Batman film from Tim Burton.
This film looks gritty and grounded all while bringing the awesome DC world to the silver screen. While Barry has been portrayed as a naïve and somewhat bumbling fool in the DCEU thus far, this looks to bring a more comic accurate version of the character for fans to fall in love with this time.
