Fans are looking forward to Echo, a new Disney Plus series set after the events of Hawkeye. And, based on the epic finale of that series, fans have been expecting some familiar characters to make appearances. Now that has been confirmed – fans will get to see both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio play roles in Echo.
This information comes via THR, where they were able to reveal as much while the show shoots in Atlanta. The two beloved actors will once again be playing Daredevil and Kingpin after they each made cameos in the MCU. It’s worth noting that these cameos both played out after the series Daredevil was cancelled on Netflix.
With the announcement that Disney plans to bring the brand back, however, it makes perfect sense to include Daredevil and Kingpin in Echo first. And it’s even better that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will be returning for the roles as well.
As they’ve noted:
“The move is the latest sign of Marvel Studios’ efforts to weave in popular characters from Netflix’s now-defunct Marvel shows such as Daredevil into the fold. Sources say Echo will include a plotline in which Daredevil, whose alter ego is blind attorney Matt Murdoch, is searching out a former ally.”
Furthermore, via Weekly Planet, it’s been reported that this ally is none other than Jessica Jones – the MCU character once played by Krysten Ritter. This would be a great opportunity to reintroduce her back into the mainstream Marvel Cinematic Universe as well.
Echo will once again feature Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez aka the titular Echo. It’ll be exciting to see how her much newer character interacts with the likes of Daredevil and Kingpin, especially after the finale of Hawkeye in which she got into quite the fight with Vincent D’Onofrio’s character. There’s certainly a lot of potential to mine with this concept. So it’s definitely great news to have it confirmed both Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will be returning for Echo.
The Disney Plus series Echo is expected to be available for streaming sometime next year. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more updates on the highly-anticipated project as we have them.
