A beloved Marvel character is finally getting their very own project to shine. This particular character has been with the MCU for quite some time, along with the actor that portrays him. It’s been officially announced that this character will officially receive a new Marvel Disney Plus series.
Disney Plus has allowed a number of other such Marvel characters to be adapted in their own projects. This includes the likes of WandaVision, Moon Knight, and even specials like Werewolf by Night. Fortunately, this is one project that’s been in development for years – and it’s finally moving forward.
As shared in a new report, the new series is set to be released in 2026. It might be quite some time away, but after a lengthy development period where some Marvel fans even believed it was canceled, it’s actually great news. Here’s what Deadline was able to say:
“Disney+ is set to resurrect Vision in a new series set for 2026. Paul Bettany will reprise his role as the Marvel character, who appeared in three Marvel films and WandaVision.”
Additionally, they were able to reveal that the series will have Star Trek: Picard executive producer Terry Matalas as its showrunner. With his work on Star Trek, it will be exciting to see what he can bring to the table when it comes to not just Vision but the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Details for the series are under wraps, but the outlet believes that it will “center on The Vision (Bettany) trying to regain his memory and humanity.” Additionally, the outlet adds that “there is a possibility for Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) to appear.”
Fans most recently saw Vision in the Disney Plus series WandaVision. He appeared in the show following his death in Avengers: Infinity War. The spin-off series introduced two new versions of the character, a rebuilt version from S.W.O.R.D. dubbed “White Vision” and Wanda’s own “Conditional” Vision. By the end of the story, White Vision flies into the sky after announcing “I Am Vision.”
This certainly adds virtually limitless possibilities for Vision’s story going forward. It’s no surprise, then, that fans have been eager to know for certain whether or not the series was happening. Now we have our confirmation.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding this highly-anticipated Marvel series as we approach its production for Disney Plus. In the meantime, it’s exciting to know that the Vision series is finally happening. Hopefully more news will follow soon.
