Two Major MCU Movies Delayed By Marvel

Two highly-anticipated major MCU productions from Marvel Studios have been officially delayed by the studio.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe had two major MCU projects that were initially scheduled to be released sooner rather than later. Now, however, both of these MCU movies have been delayed.

It seems as though Disney is moving around several major titles to compensate for this decision, with The Devil Wears Prada 2 to take the earlier film’s original May release date next year.

This is certainly a surprise for fans who thought the releases were permanently locked, but it looks as though the studio needed more time to cook these major projects.

As shared via THR these are the two MCU titles that have been delayed:

“Avengers: Doomsday is pushing back its release date in theaters from May 1, 2026, to Dec. 18 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars will now open on Dec. 17 2027 instead of May 7, 2027.”

As mentioned, the first delay will allow The Devil Wears Prada 2 to be released on May 1. While an exact reason for these delays has yet to be released, the studio notes that insiders have said “Doomsday and Secret Wars are two of the biggest titles Marvel has ever made, and the date shifts help the production schedules” since Avengers: Doomsday is currently in production.

Hopefully these delays will work out for the best, then, and allow time for these films to come together in a proper fashion. Especially with so much pressure to get Doomsday and Secret Wars just right, Marvel Studios is going to need to take as much time as it takes to perfect these projects.

Additionally, a December release date could be a better spot for both titles, as blockbusters released during that particular month have performed extremely well at the box office. This goes for Marvel films as well, especially after the Spider-Man threequel Spider-Man: No Way Home made a worldwide smash at the box office with a December release date.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more MCU news as we have it, including any other updates regarding the productions of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s an exciting time to be a fan.
