A new entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe line of Spider-Man films is on the way. The fourth title in the series, named Spider-Man: Brand New Day, sees Tom Holland return as Peter Parker while being joined by Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. Fans are naturally excited to see what’s in store for this team-up, and while we’re still waiting for more details on that front, the first set photos have surfaced now that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has started production.
It’s been some time since the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker joined by the different variants of the character played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in previous continuities. Now Marvel Studios is apparently taking the fight to the streets, with a street-level story that fittingly throws The Punisher into the mix.
Interestingly, while many story details are still being kept under wraps, the new set photos do confirm one major aspect regarding Spider-Man: Brand New Day. We now know when the film is supposed to be set on Marvel’s ever-growing chronological timeline.

As revealed in the image, it looks like the film features a building that won’t be completed until “December 2027.” Thanks to Thunderbolts, we know Avengers: Doomsday will be set somewhere around 2028 and 2029 as revealed in its post-credits scene. If Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set somewhere around 2026 and 2027, that puts it closer to Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts, and also before the events of Avengers: Doomsday.
Interestingly, rumors surrounding the new Spider-Man entry suggested that it would actually take place between the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. If this new date is anything to go by, however, then it looks like those rumors are false. Now we’ll really have to see what’s in store for Spider-Man fans as more news comes our way.
