Actor Jamie Foxx is facing backlash for a post he made on Instagram. The fan-favorite actor, known for appearing in such hit films as Django Unchained and Spider-Man: No Way Home, made a comment which has been called “antisemitic” by some users.

As you can see below, Foxx shared the original post on his Instagram story. It was then screenshotted and shared online via Twitter. As you can see below, he wrote:

“They killed this dude named Jesus… What do you think they’ll do to you???!”

Obviously there wasn’t much context given to his statement. Though he did include the following hashtags: “#fakefriends” and “#fakelove”.

Many internet users attempted to decipher his statement and what exactly he was referring to. This led to many accusations that Jamie Foxx was being antisemitic. However, he apologized in a follow-up tweet, emphasizing that he did not mean to appear antisemitic. Here’s how Jamie Foxx apologized for the backlash:

“Hey guys I want to apologize to the Jewish community and anyone else who was offended by my post… I know my words were clumsy and have caused offense… that was never my intent… To clarify… I felt betrayed by a fake friend… And that’s what I meant about ‘they’ nothing more… I have love in my heart for everyone I support the Jewish community and all faiths… and I’m against all hate! Once again my deepest apologies.”

BREAKING: Jamie Foxx just apologized to the Jewish community for his recent post on instagram, which had nothing to do with the Jewish community.

Many users have supported Foxx’s tweet and likewise claim that it’s a misunderstanding. Others are shocked to see why Foxx would make such comparisons in the first place. Nevertheless, Foxx has issued an apology, and we’ll have to see what’s next for the actor. It’s worth noting that this comes not long after Foxx’s recovery from a recent health scare.
