Production is already moving forward on the next chapter of one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s biggest street-level stories, and new images from the set may have revealed some major MCU surprises. Even though the current season hasn’t finished airing yet, cameras are already rolling on future episodes in New York City.
Photos taken during filming have begun circulating online, giving fans a glimpse at what appears to be a much bigger scope for upcoming episodes. The production has been spotted filming across several recognizable locations in the city, with crews recreating scenes that look far larger than anything seen in the series so far.
Naturally, fans quickly began dissecting the images for clues about what might be coming next. Some of the most interesting discoveries, however, weren’t about the action sequences or the filming locations – they were about the unexpected faces spotted on set. If the photos are any indication, Marvel Studios may be preparing to bring back some familiar characters from the earlier era of Marvel television.
According to the images, actors Mike Colter and Finn Jones were both spotted filming scenes alongside Krysten Ritter for Daredevil: Born Again. The trio previously portrayed Luke Cage, Danny Rand and Jessica Jones during the original era of Marvel’s Netflix shows.

If these appearances make it into the final episodes, the moment could effectively recreate a long-awaited reunion of the Defenders within the modern MCU. Ritter is already expected to return as Jessica Jones later in the currently airing season, but the presence of Colter and Jones suggests Marvel may be expanding those plans even further.
The characters originally appeared across several interconnected series that streamed before Marvel Studios began producing its own shows directly for Disney Plus. While Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin have already transitioned into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have long wondered if the rest of the Defenders would eventually follow.
Of course, it’s worth remembering that set photos don’t always reveal the full story. Cameos, flashbacks, or even misdirection are always possible during filming. Still, if the images are accurate, the upcoming episodes could mark one of the biggest crossovers yet for Marvel’s street-level heroes.
