Some interesting new promotional art for Avengers: Infinity War has made its way on to the internet this week, and it features two characters that were dead – or thought to be. There are obvious spoilers if you aren’t caught up on the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies yet.
#AvengersInfinityWar display from Disney. Curious character choices such as Yondu & the Ancient One. Its definitely cool, but I don’t know how to feel about official promo material merely being poorly layered PNG character images when you have artists like Andy Park available. pic.twitter.com/gFFQbMqc1D

The promotional art features Tilda Swinton’s The Ancient One from Doctor Strange, as well as Michael Rooker’s Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy.
James Gunn has said in the past that he wouldn’t want to bring a character back from the dead, and even went as far as saying he hated the idea. That’s what makes this new reveal pretty interesting.
Based on the set photos and everything else we’ve been seeing, the movie that’s been thought of as the one where Marvel characters die, appears to be the movie where Marvel characters live. Even if they’re already dead.
One thing that is clear about Marvel, though, is they aren’t afraid to be unpredictable. If they want to make a big change, they’ll do it. If they don’t, they won’t. Even if it isn’t want fans necessarily want.
It’s also clear that the movie will feature quite a few different looks for iconic Marvel characters, so it’s definitely shaping up to be a movie that’ll at least be different from the other ones we’ve had in the MCU, which is refreshing. Based on the early reactions for Thor: Ragnarok, it looks like we can expect more great stuff from Marvel Studios for years to come.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters May 4th, 2018.
