After Kevin Feige recently revealed that Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be the end of the MCU as we currently know it, some fans are wondering how that could be.
In a recent red carpet interview, Feige stressed that things will definitely be different:
“All of the next films by design have been built to be very different, to be very unique. Ragnarok, Black Panther, certainly as we get into Infinity War and even Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is nearing the end of their production period right now. All four of those movies are distinct and special, and I can’t wait for people to see. Thankfully they get to see Ragnarok starting now.”
How exactly they’ll be different, isn’t exactly known at this point.
Though, judging from the footage and trailers from Thor: Ragnarok, we can already tell that it’s going to be a new type of film for the MCU. It has a very retro and unique feel to it, part of which was what Feige referenced.
Ragnarok is also said to begin an unofficial trilogy for The Incredible Hulk – per Mark Ruffalo:
“…Kevin [Feige] pulled me aside before this, and said, ‘If you were gonna do a… if we were going to do a standalone Hulk movie, what would it be?’ And I said, ‘I think it should be this, this, this, and this and this, and ends up like this.’ And he’s like, ‘I love that. Why don’t we do that in the next three movies, starting with Thor 3 and then we go into Avengers 3 and 4.’ And I was like, ‘That sounds great!’ And so we are at the beginning of this arc.”
So whatever is in store for the future of the Marvel Movies, it definitely sounds like they’re going to keep fans pleased for years to come.
