U.K. Authorities Say They Have A Killer Clown Problem

If there’s one crazy fad from last year, it was that of the killer clowns. It seemed reports were coming in from everywhere about people dressed in clown costumes stalking innocent bystanders.

It’s been relatively quiet since, but now the problem seems to have shifted to the United Kingdom. In fact, it’s gotten so bad that British officials have taken action against the clowns. With the massive success of this year’s IT movie, it’s not really surprising that the trend has come back.

iNews has reported that the clown incidents began in Kent, when a group of youths appeared wearing clown masks and orange jumpsuits. They were “leaping out in front of cars and jumping in front of people,” scaring civilians. The police responded by issuing a warning for “road safety concerns.”

The same clowns were reported to later be spotted in town, causing chaos.

“They knocked on my door yesterday and just stood there,” one resident reported to local media. Another resident, “One in an orange jumpsuit? They passed me with my kids and kept watching people walking past.”

It even provoked the Canterbury City Council to stay in place as local law enforcement observed the clowns on closed circuit television cameras.

The scares continued as more clowns were spotted in Thames Valley and Gloucestershire. There was even one incident that was rather serious and threatening.

A man had uploaded a video containing a clown, standing in place, with a hammer in one hand.

It’s nowhere near as bad as incidents from last year, but it’s still a troubling time when you can’t determine whether or not your safety is being compromised because there’s a weirdo in a clown costume stalking you.

Perhaps like he did last year, Batman needs to come back and put these clowns in their place.
