In what appears to be what every single person will be accused of before the year is over, yet another iconic pop culture person has been accused of sexual misconduct. A new report from Daily Mail suggests that Marvel icon Stan Lee repeatedly groped and harassed a string of young female nurses employed to care for him.
Per the report:
He is said to have asked for oral sex in the shower, walked around naked and wanted to be ‘pleasured’ in the bedroom.
The nursing company which employs the women and caters for celebrities and high end clients is now in a legal dispute with icon Lee, DailyMail.com has learned. But as yet no police complaint has been made and no lawsuits filed.
A lawyer representing Lee told DailyMail.com that Lee ‘categorically denies’ the ‘false and despicable’ allegations and fully intends to clear his ‘stellar good name’ and suggested the allegations could be part of a shakedown.
In a statement to the site, Stan Lee’s lawyer said:
“Mr. Lee categorically denies these false and despicable allegations and he fully intends to fight to protect his stellar good name and impeccable character. We are not aware of anyone filing a civil action, or reporting these issues to the police, which for any genuine claim would be the more appropriate way for it to be handled. Instead, Mr. Lee has received demands to pay money and threats that if he does not do so, the accuser will go to the media. Mr. Lee will not be extorted or blackmailed, and will pay no money to anyone because he has done absolutely nothing wrong.”
A rep for the new nursing company working for Lee said that Lee has been “polite, kind and respectful” to them.
It’s worth pointing out that Stan Lee is 95 years old, and while age doesn’t excuse behavior like this, it’s fair to wonder if the allegations are indeed true, if Lee is even in his right mind at this point. He recently lost his wife of whom he’d been with for most his life, and typically, people of that age could be suffering from a lot of different things. Dementia being one of them, as I’ve seen first hand from personal experience in my life.
It’s also worth pointing out that as far as accuracy goes, Daily Mail isn’t exactly the best.
Here’s what Twitter had to say about the situation, since that’s all that matters anymore:
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on this as more develops, but don’t expect to hear much more about it.
