The new sequel to IT: Chapter 1 is finally in theaters, and director Andy Muschietti made sure that IT: Chapter 2 was a relevant movie in regards to the current climate of the world. One such example of this apparently stems from the way he crafted Pennywise – the killer clown was actually partially inspired by real world leaders such as US President Donald Trump.
Andy Muschietti explained that,
“[Trump] does exactly what the clown does, you know? The clown is trying to divide the ‘Losers’ all the time, to turn them against them(selves) and make them weaker. That’s how he conquers, he tries to conquer them and destroy them.”
It’s definitely an interesting statement, and one that might not exactly be relevant solely to Donald Trump. After all, Pennywise was still a character first written way back in Stephen King’s original 1986 novel. But that hasn’t stopped others from seeing similarities between President Donald Trump and Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
Here’s a few tweets which have taken the liberty of comparing the two:
lol, hi @realDonaldTrump. 🤡
Interesting description coming from the guy who is literally locking up kids like Pennywise. pic.twitter.com/bt49kyGk9Z

In response to Dems threats to begin impeachment proceedings, Trump says, “These people are clowns.” That’s rich coming from someone who clearly gets hair & makeup tips from Pennywise.

Trump’s governance is reminiscent of a clown car. It would be funny if all the clowns didn’t behave like Pennywise. pic.twitter.com/LgIbCxvJCR

Now that our immigration policy includes deporting kids with cancer, I fear that this cartoon (originally published 6/15/2018) was unfair… to Pennywise the Clown. #Trump #ImmigrationPolicy https://t.co/rRPa6tZteH pic.twitter.com/uEe6rAE8S6

Thankfully, Donald Trump isn’t an inter-dimensional shapeshifter that eats the souls of children. Although some people may make those references, Pennywise simply remains the icon of a classic horror novel and its iconic adaptations.
In the latest film IT: Chapter 2 which concludes the epic story beginning with IT: Chapter 1…
Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, “IT CHAPTER TWO” brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film.
