Fans just love their theories. Some are ridiculous. But some actually make sense when you think about them. Remember the theory that Old Man Cap from Avengers: Endgame went on to become the children’s television host, Mr. Rogers? Yep, we thought that was ridiculous, too. But now there’s a new theory that suggests that Star-Lord is Captain America’s grandson. If this was true, I’m sure Peter Quill watched his grandpa as a child before meeting him to take down his future father-in-law.
Reddit user, u/chill_bishop, concocted this outrageous theory. But this could be placed in the well-thought-out category. The theory stems from actress, Laura Haddock. She was in Captain America: The First Avenger and Guardians of the Galaxy Volumes One and Two as two different characters. Until now, actors couldn’t do this in the MCU. Though, Gemma Chan was Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel and will be Sersi in Eternals. But remember that Kenneth Choi was Jim Morita in The First Avenger and then he played his descendent, Peter’s principal, in Spider-Man: Homecoming. When I first saw this theory, I thought that the girl from First Avenger would’ve been too old.
But then I re-read that title. Star-Lord would be Cap’s grandson. Therefore, like Choi, Haddock played a descendant of her first character. The theory states that when Haddock’s fangirl showed up again at another of Cap’s events, he tried to avoid her. Therefore, they must have had a one-night stand. They had a daughter together, who was named Meredith. This would line up for Peter to be born in the 70s. Peter’s grandpa was there in the hospital room. But many stepfathers raise children as their own.
This also goes in line with Ego. The lore of the movie changed Star-Lord’s father from J’Son of Spartax to Kurt Russel’s Ego the Living Planet. Peter was the only child of Ego’s billions that had an inner light. This could have been that he had Super Soldier Serum in his blood. Some negated this, saying it was just because Peter was the oldest, and the only one to live past puberty. But they’re just being Negative Nancies.
Chris Pratt will reprise his role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He is also rumored to appear in Thor: Love and Thunder. Thor 4 is scheduled for November 5th, 2021. GOTG3 has not been given a release date yet. To find out if this theory will be confirmed, we’ll have to wait for either of those movies. I mean, this wouldn’t be the first time Marvel confirmed a fan theory. Remember that the little boy from Iron Man 2 was confirmed to be Peter Parker. Screen Geek will let you know if we hear of any confirmation.
