Natalie Portman Spotted On Set Of ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

Thor: Love and Thunder brings back Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first ever fourth solo film for any character. But he is not alone. The Guardians of the Galaxy, Valkyrie, Lady Sif and more are joining the fray. However, the biggest return has got to be that of Natalie Portman, who not only returns as Jane Foster, but will also raise Mjolnir to become The Mighty Thor! Now, as production is underway in Australia, Portman has been spotted onset, joining the cast!

Over on Twitter, we got some set photos of the production and Portman was spotted on set. She isn’t in costume, however, so we can’t tell whether she’s filming scenes in civilian garb or in her Mighty Thor costume just yet. Portman’s return, when announced, was a major surprise after she left Marvel following Thor: The Dark World. In canon, Jane and Thor split up sometime before Avengers: Infinity War and she was one of the countless victims of Thanos’ snap.

Now, like all those returning from the ‘Blip’ after Avengers: Endgame, she returns to the MCU. But, she returns not only as one of the brightest minds in astrophysics in this world, but also is becoming a major hero in Marvel. It is unclear if Portman will have any more appearances in the MCU after this, but at least we get to see another strong female character in this film.

While the pic doesn’t give us the long awaited look of Portman raising Thor’s hammer in action, it is still nice to see her back on set. The pics also give us looks at Hemsworth in a Ravenger-esque outfit, Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Sean Gunn’s Kraglin and Karen Gilian’s Nebula, all on set. Taika Waititi returns to the director’s chair so fans can surely expect a fun and crazy adventure, along with one of Marvel’s darkest villains, Gorr the God Butcher, played by Academy Award Winning Christian Bale.
