The road to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been a tumultuous and very bumpy trek, to say the least. Writer/director James Gunn was erroneously fired due to decade’s old tweets that he had already apologized for before Disney ultimately brought him back. However, in his time away, Gunn signed on to to The Suicide Squad for WB. Then, the pandemic shut the whole world down, delaying everything in Hollywood. Now, as the movie finally gets on track and prepares for filming, James has shared a cast photo on set to proclaim they are indeed getting back to work and bringing Marvel’s cosmic misfits back for one final adventure!
Gunn took to Twitter to share a group photo of the gang getting back together for the third film. We see Gunn, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, and Pom Klementieff. We also see newcomers Will Poulter (who will play the much anticipated Adam Warlock) and Peacemaker actor Chukwudi Iwuji in a yet-to-be-determined role.
This means that production is indeed underway and hopefully some ideas as to what’s to come from this film (and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special), including who the villain will be.
As with all things Marvel, there are plenty of rumors surrounding this film. Silver Surfer and Galactus have both been named dropped as well as The High Evolutionary. One thing is for sure, James Gunn is great about keeping secrets when it comes to his movies. He also loves to tease us with ‘news’, like how he plans to bring in one of Marvel’s oddest characters for this film.
Whatever is to come, fans should be ready for anything when it comes to Gunn’s movies. He has been on top of his game for quite some time and it doesn’t look like he is going to slow down anytime soon.
