Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is only months away from finally being released – and as is the case with many Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, leaks have started to come out. Whether or not these leaks are accurate are determined when the movie itself is actually released – but the latest one is sure to have fans talking, as it appears to be Tom Cruise as Iron Man on the set of Doctor Strange 2!
For those of you unaware, Marvel Studios actually wanted to cast Tom Cruise as the character back in the early 2000’s – and were very hesitant to cast Robert Downey Jr. in the role. Cruise ended up turning down the role and has since stated (like most of us) that RDJ was perfect for the part and couldn’t imagine anyone else as Tony Stark.
If you’ve seen Spider-Man: No Way Home, you already know that the Marvel Multiverse has been cracked wide open, as we saw Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man both appear in that film, so why not take it a step further and give us Tom Cruise as Iron Man? If a new set photo is legitimate, that could be exactly what we end up seeing in Doctor Strange 2.

It’s worth pointing out that the photo could be fake and to take it with a huge grain of salt, but it is something that has been rumored, so it’s worth keeping an eye on.
As to why Tom Cruise turned down the role of Iron Man, the actor just didn’t think it would ultimately work, saying:
“It’s not happening. Not with me, no … They came to me at a certain point and, when I do something, I wanna do it right. If I commit to something, it has to be done in a way that I know it’s gonna be something special. And as it was lining up, it just didn’t feel to me like it was gonna work. I need to be able to make decisions and make the film as great as it can be, and it just didn’t go down that road that way.”
We’ll know for certain if that actor is appearing as a variant version of Tony Stark/Iron Man when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6th.
