Bradley Cooper Is Unrecognizable In New Leonard Bernstein Biopic

Bradley Cooper is busy directing his next film following the success of A Star is Born, titled Maestro, which is actually a biographical film centered on Leonard Bernstein. Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Bradley Cooper plays the role of Leonard Bernstein. And, as you can see below, he’s undergone an incredible makeup transformation to faithfully represent the iconic Broadway composer.

Interestingly, the makeup appears to have been used in order to illustrate the various years of Leonard Bernstein’s life. It’s clearly going to be quite the challenge – but if these behind the scenes photos are any indication – Bradley Cooper is ready to show he’s more than capable. Fans can also see Carey Mulligan as Leonard Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre.

    Here are the set photos:

As the caption written by Netflix suggests, there are “from the set of MAESTRO,” and they’ve come out quite fantastically. Bradley Cooper really does look the part, and as we’ve already stated, he’s completely unrecognizable as Leonard Bernstein. We’ve seen some incredibly makeup transformations lately, for example Colin Farrell as The Penguin in The Batman. But Bradley Cooper taking on the challenge of adapting a real-life person for the big screen certainly adds another impressive layer to his respective performance.

Hopefully we’ll have more glimpses at the upcoming film soon. It’s worth noting that Steven Spielberg was initially attached to direct the film, but after recruiting Bradley Cooper to star, it appears that Cooper was much more eager to direct. As such, this will be an interesting follow-up project to A Star is Born and one must wonder what Bradley Cooper will bring to the table as both director and star. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more updates on Maestro as we have them. For now, however, it looks like the film is on the right path.

Maestro is currently scheduled to be streaming on Netflix sometime in 2023.
