Many plot details for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have been kept under wraps. Of course, there are still several details we know about – with one of them surrounding Dominique Thorne. Thorne has been cast to play the character Riri Williams aka Ironheart, the successor to the Iron Man mantle. This appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be setting the stage for her future appearance in the Disney Plus series Ironheart. Now we’ve gotten our first glimpse at the Ironheart costume that will be used in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The image featuring the new Ironheart costume was revealed via some leaked Black Panther: Wakanda Forever merchandise. Interestingly, the design is quite different from what fans are familiar with in the comic books.
Instead, it appears they took a more direct influence from Tony Stark’s original Mark I armor. Which, considering this is the origin for Riri Williams, it should be a fitting start for the character and her ability to reverse engineer Tony Stark’s technology.
Here are the images:
One interesting aspect about the design is the Arc Reactor. It appears that Riri Williams managed to recreate Tony Stark’s Arc Reactor and give it her own twist. This is evident with the heart-styled shape of the device. Furthermore, it seems likely that this could be the start of many characters duplicating Stark’s technology. If so, then this could also be setting the stage for the upcoming Armor Wars series that’s being developed for Disney Plus.
Ryan Coogler directed Black Panther: Wakanda Forever from a screenplay he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.
The cast we can currently expect for the new MCU film includes Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Martin Freeman, Angela Bassett, Michaela Coel, and Tenoch Huerta.
Fans will be able to see the highly-anticipated Black Panther sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, later this year on November 11, 2022.
