We’ve recently received our latest bit of concrete information regarding the Fantastic Four reboot – the highly-anticipated film’s release date. Now Kevin Feige has revealed another piece of information regarding Fantastic Four, and that’s that the film won’t actually be an origin story.
Here’s what Kevin Feige specifically had to say, via THR, regarding the Fantastic Four film and how it won’t be an origin story:
“A lot of people know this origin story,” Feige began.
Indeed, the origin has already been used in several Fantastic Four adaptations. While some younger audiences might not be as familiar with those adaptations, however, Marvel has seen success by applying that method with other such superheroes. For example, Spider-Man when he was first introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War, or perhaps Reed Richards himself when his variant was introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
“A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?”
Kevin Feige then continued with this following line that should hopefully have fans hyped:
“We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”
Fans have been waiting many years for this film to happen, as such, the high bar goes for just about everyone. And, whether or not the film would’ve been an origin story, was more than likely on some people’s list of requirements. So while some fans might be disappointed by this news – others are no doubt excited. In any case, Kevin Feige has been proven right about the Marvel Cinematic Universe and its success thus far. So perhaps we’ll all be pleased with Kevin Feige and the rest of Marvel Studios regarding whatever their take on Fantastic Four is.
The upcoming Fantastic Four reboot is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024. As of right now, cast and director details are unknown. Jon Watts was originally slated to direct but decided to take a break from Marvel. Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the highly-anticipated film as we have them.
