The son of filmmaker Rob Reiner is facing murder charges for the death of Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. Their son, Nick Reiner, is believed to have killed his parents following a heated argument in their home during a Hanukkah party.
As previously confirmed, Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead from stab wounds in their Brentwood mansion. Now, as shared via The U.S. Sun, “attendees at the event were ‘shocked to hear about the murders, but once they heard Nick was implicated, no one was surprised.'”
The outlet further reports that there were complaints from Michele regarding Nick and his lifestyle choices as of late:
“Michele had reportedly been bemoaning to friends over the past several months about Nick’s mental health and alleged drug issues.
“She told friends that she and Rob had ‘tried everything’ to help Nick,” they further elaborated via TMZ.
The 32-year-old son of Rob Reiner, Nick Reiner, is said to have been “booked into a Los Angeles jail on Monday at 5:04 am PST,” in addition to having “been charged with murder and is being held at Parker Center Jail on $4 million bail, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell announced during a press conference on Monday.”
Knowledge of Nick’s drug issues are said to be traceable back to 2016 when he first opened up about such addictions. In the years since, his public appearances became less frequent, though there were still occasional conversations regarding his use of substances and fight to overcome them. At one point, Nick even admitted to having become homeless as a result.
Details regarding the situation between Nick and his parents are still under investigation, but as a developing story, this is a truly disturbing and tragic scenario for one of Hollywood’s top filmmakers and his family.
