Young, British, an aspiring (and prolific) writer. Probably stuck in his room writing some weird, crazy story about a vampire slayer or a cat from space... or something.

Lionsgate has just released a brand new international trailer for the upcoming Power Rangers movie. Sure, it pretty much recycles footage seen in the previous full-length trailer from October and is only one minute long, but the editing gives a slightly different feel. It also contains footage of what can only be the Power Coins. For those who don’t know, the Power Rangers use these Power Coins to transform into their alien-like armoured forms. The film’s interpretation of the coins are considerably different from the original TV series. The original Power Coins were large coins featuring various prehistoric creatures, but…

Everything Marvel Studios has brought us so far is set to converge in the craziest, biggest cinematic event we’ve ever seen, EVER! Well, to some people at least. Avengers: Infinity War will see the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and other MCU superpowers unite against the evil will of Thanos (Josh Brolin), written by the dynamic duo who brought us Captain America films The Winter Soldier and Civil War, Mark and Antony Russo. The Russo Brothers demonstrated their capability of dealing with many key characters in Civil War, but Infinity War will dial this to 1000. The expectation would be…

The numbers are in! Well, the estimates are at least. Star Wars is one of the biggest cinematic franchises in history, notorious for smashing the box office and ruling theatres and this year’s Rogue One has not disappointed. Star Wars: The Force Awakens blew up the box office last year with its record setting $248 million, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story lived up to, even exceeded, expectations with a $155 million debut, according to comScore. This brands Rogue One as the third biggest opening this year, after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($166 million), Captain America: Civil…

Will Smith, as we all know, appeared in this year’s Suicide Squad. The film received mixed reactions, but Will Smith’s Deadshot was undoubtedly one of the highlights. Personally, when the trailer was released, I was curious as to why Will Smith was not to appear in Independence Day 2. As it happens, he has revealed himself that he faced a choice between the two. He explained the choice during a Q&A recently at Facebook Headquarters: “I had the two screenplays in front of me for the ‘Independence Day 2’ and for ‘Suicide Squad’. I had to choose between the two of those.…

Maintaining a cinematic universe for any franchise isn’t as easygoing as it is for fans to sit back and watch the action. The craft of such a challenge lies in one teeny, tiny thing. Continuity. Every detail, every thread of history in the fictional world presented by the writers and directors must be noted and taken into consideration. Consistency brings a solid story. Therefore when creating a cinematic universe, in which different films (not only sequels) feed off each other, consistency is all the more important. That said, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn revealed that he’s not yet…

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is among the sterling line up of films in the MCU to come next year. If that alone doesn’t merit enough of a hype, Marvel have just made an exciting announcement for gamers who have long been pining for Marvel to release some quality games. Today, LIVE on stage at The Games Awards, Marvel revealed their ‘previously top-secret project’, an interactive episodic game series based on Guardians of the Galaxy. Titled Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, the first episode in this five-part adventure will premiere in 2017 digitally, on home consoles,…

The cinematic rivalry between comic book power houses Marvel and DC is perhaps one of the largest in the industry. It is no coincidence that DC’s largest comic book hero showdown in cinematic history (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) was closely followed by Marvel’s (Captain America: Civil War), in terms of scheduling. With the latter receiving a far more positive reaction, Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman has been a point of controversy. It is therefore unsurprising that Marvel would take every opportunity they can to take digs at the film. An issue of Spider-Man/Deadpool featured a Batman v Superman:…

Captain America: Civil War was arguably Marvel’s best piece yet, and an absolute thrill to watch; introducing two characters to the ever-growing MCU and featuring the largest superhero showdown in cinematic history (overtaking that which came but two weeks before it, Batman v Superman). All things considered, the film was in some ways quite difficult to watch. That is, and this is not a criticism, because it’s damn hard to watch Marvel’s very own Iron Man and Cap drifting apart in the heartbreaking way they did. We will all recall the potentially game-changing moment at the end of the film when…

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an almighty empire standing tall over a vast web of inter-connected films and shows. For the most part, those connections are simple, explicit and understandable. However, there are dark corners of the MCU to which few (but surprisingly many) fans dare to go. That is the realm of the Easter Eggs. Marvel films are littered with them, and many fans make it their sworn purpose to find each and every one. In recent weeks alone, Guardians of the Galaxy has been increasingly in the spotlight of this very topic. There is an incredibly, impossibly (and…

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an ever-expanding, seemingly infinite comic book candy store for fans. Nevertheless, when it comes to building a roster of such well-known characters, there are rules. Marvel does keep its MCU and MTU connected, but so far quite loosely. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t influence the films in any way, but the show does feed off the implications of the films’ events, whilst its story lines are very much separate. The show has introduced the concept of ‘Inhumans’ to the Marvel Universe, but the Inhumans will be introduced in their own series (before their own film) in…
