‘The Punisher’ Season 2 Set Photos Reveal First Look At Jigsaw

As filming continues in and around New York for Season 2 of Marvel’s The Punisher, the accompanying set photos just keep on coming thick and fast. So far they’ve given fans a first look at new characters Amy Bendix (Giorgia Whigham) and John Pilgrim (Josh Stewart), as well as Frank interacting with the returning Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah) and Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore). And now some new leaked shots have given us our first glimpse of the show’s big villain, Jigsaw.

When we last saw Billy Russo (Ben Barnes), he was lying in a coma, after being beaten senseless and having had half his face ground off with broken glass by The Punisher. Well, as the new shots show, Season Two will see Russo emerging from his coma with a new face, and a burning desire to get his own back on his old Afghanistan war buddy.

Punisher: War Zone Jigsaw Dominic West

Unlike the extreme facial scarring that Dominic West’s version of the character sported back in 2008’s Punisher: War Zone, the Netflix show-runners have opted for something considerably less impactive for the new TV show. Sporting visible but far less extreme wounds down either side of his face, Billy’s features are largely intact.

Whilst this may disappoint hardcore fans of the character, it does also leave the possibility of Frank inflicting even more damage to the vain villain’s face before the conclusion of the show’s second season.

Just a reminder, this is what Russo looked like when we last saw him:

In another difference to the War Zone version, the styling of this Jigsaw is also a lot more subtle. Gone are the loud and gaudy gangster suits of the movie, replaced instead with functional and stylish street wear. One thing the two incarnations do seem to have in common though are their love for heavy artillery when It comes to seeking out their revenge.

This is the second fight scene between the two former soldiers that we have now seen, indicating that Jigsaw will indeed remain the show’s principal antagonist this time round, rather than just a quick cameo that some commentators had anticipated. It’ll be interesting to see how he fits in with the show’s other announced villains, John Pilgrim and Anderson Schulz (Corbin Bernsen).

The Punisher Season Two will arrive on Netflix some time in 2019.
