As we approach the release of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice later in March, a recent rumor hit the internet concerning Warner Bros. and their opinion on the finished product. While Deadpool broke new ground on what a successful comic book movie could be, it’s easy to forget that it’s part of the X-Men cinematic universe.  After the newest box office numbers have come in, it’s becoming one of the most successful X-Men movies at that. Over the weekend, Deadpool passed X-Men: The Last Stand as the highest grossing X-Men film domestically.  Deadpool has now grossed $235,000,000, surpassing the third X-Men film’s $234,000,000 in US ticket sales. After months of rumors, speculation, denials, and more rumors, it’s official: Kurt Russel has joined that cast of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This information was confirmed at the very end of the cast list in a press release from Marvel Studios today.  This list also confirmed the return of many characters from the first film (such as Nebula, Yondu, and Kraglin) but also made a few new players official as well.  This includes Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Dibicki, and Chris Sullivan.
