After developing Preacher for AMC, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Neal Mortiz will be taking another dark comic book series and bringing it to the screen. This time, it’ll be Garth Ennis’ The Boys comic book. It won’t be on AMC, however, it will be on Cinemax. The co-creator of Judge Dredd, John Wagner – has announced that he plans to kill off a major character in 2000AD. Here’s what he had to say about it in a recent 2000 AD Thrill-Cast podcast: “I’m about to kill an important 2000 AD character, but I don’t normally do that anymore,” he said. SPAWN Creator Todd McFarlane has talked about doing a new film based on the character for quite some time – but it now seems like it’s actually moving forward, as he has teased a completed 132 page script that he plans on sending off to Hollywood for feedback soon. I had originally suggested that we try to get Amazon to make a Dredd series but the overwhelming response was that the general Dredd fan base prefers Netflix – so here you go. We’ve already seen shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones do well – and Deadpool which was rated-R, so there’s definitely an audience for this kind of stuff. A 2000AD Universe has unlimited potential, so if you want to see a Dredd Netflix series – Go here and tell them you want more DREDD!
