UK based writer and comic book fan. Other opinions are available, but they'll almost certainly be wrong.

Frank Castle has been shooting, stabbing and exploding his way through comics for the last 42 years. And It’s been a rough old ride for Marvel’s most notorious vigilante. He’s died. More than once. He’s been an Angel. A Monster. For a short time he was quite randomly turned into an African American. He’s saved the world. He’s destroyed it. Even by Marvel standards he’s had more than his fair share of things to deal with. Chief amongst these have been the bad guys. And there have been a lot of them. Frank’s policy in relation to villainy is pretty…

It looks like Chibs will be patching across from the Sons Of Anarchy to a very different gang. That’s because actor Tommy Flanagan will be joining the cast of ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’, which started filming this week. Reports are that he’ll be joining Yondu’s red-coated Ravagers, who will spend most of the sequel trying to collect a bounty that’s been placed on Rocket’s head, which will bring them into direct conflict with the Guardians. The film has managed to snap up Kurt Russell as J’son, the mysterious father of Chris Pratt’s Starlord, and the first couple of set photos…

So, a couple of people on the new trailer thought that might be a bit of skull logo showing around the 2 minute mark. I’ve frozen it. Enlarged it. Lightened it. And the results are…. annoyingly inconclusive. It might be a bit of logo showing. It could just be shadows on dark clothing… If it is the base of the logo, then I think it would look quite like the ‘Enter The Warzone’ version. Just hurry up and unveil it already!?!? Do you think that it’s the skull? Sound off below!

Ever since it was announced that Punisher fans would finally be seeing their idol onscreen again in season 2 of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’, there’s been intense speculation on what direction the new project would take their favourite character. The Punisher has an exceptionally loyal and devoted fanbase within the Marvel family, to the extent where he’s become somewhat of a cultural icon, held sacred by those involved in many aspects of public service and the armed forces. And you can’t say that he hasn’t been given a fair chance in the wide and wacky world of Marvel Entertainment. Much like ‘Ghost…

So with Deadpool massively exceeding box office predictions, the studio have already green-lit a sequel and promised it will definitely feature Wade’s long term sparring partner, Cable. There’s been a number of names banded round of late for who might play Cable, including Jon Hamm and Ron Perlman, and this week saw a surprising addition to the race. ‘Avatar’ star Stephen Lang has taken to Twitter to advertise his interest in the role. A veteran actor, with a number of other notable sci-fi roles under his belt, Lang’s photo was immediately supported by some mocked up fan-art, seemingly endorsing his…

Despite a large dose of aggressive online speculation surrounding the project and the release of a brilliant second trailer, the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie is stubbornly holding onto its secrets, and continuing to raise many unanswered questions. It’s a testament to David Ayer and his team, trying to produce a movie in a world filled with script leaks, onset photography and intrusive internet journalism, that they can keep anything under wraps. One of the biggest talking points of the project at this time is who actor Scott Eastwood will be playing. The top two fan theories doing the rounds at the…

The last couple of years have seen a steady increase in the number of movie conspiracy theories, generated by devoted movie fans who have a lot of time on their hands, a worn-out ‘pause’ button on their DVD remote, and access to a lot of sugar. In the majority of these cases, they don’t stand up to much scrutiny at all, but the fact they can negotiate the first hurdle of improbability and lodge themselves in your head makes them hard to shake off. For example, Sean Connery ISN’T playing 007 in ‘The Rock’. Elsa’s parents DON’T get washed up…

You can probably count on one hand the number of times that you see the modern incarnation of Marvel Studios put a creative foot wrong. With the amazing levels of success they’ve achieved in what is a relatively short timeframe, spectators could be forgiven for thinking that the company has a secret laboratory, no doubt concealed in an extinct volcano, where they are continually reforming the formula for taking something that appears utterly ludicrous on paper, but still managing to convert it into a product that both stands up to critical analysis and produces cold hard cash. But this was…

I’m sat there, minding my own business when the boss-man drops me a line and asks me to look into making a list of the top comic book villains that audiences are yet to see in a live-action format. Seems an easy enough prospect, right? Everybody’s got that favorite bad guy that they either read about, or watched on early morning kids TV. Someone they’ve been secretly itching to see crop up amongst the current wave of comic book projects. Well trust me, it isn’t necessarily that easy. Whilst we’re a mere three phases into Marvel’s plans for world domination,…

The art of the celebrity movie walk-on has become somewhat overused of late. A Cameo used to be a clever, ‘blink-and-you’ll-miss-them’ device, artfully employed to leave a lasting memory on the audience. These days it’s an almost unwritten rule that any blockbuster or reboot will have to have at least one original cast member shuffling into frame for one of the scenes as an in-joke. For Marvel, it’s either the obligatory ‘Stan The Man’ cameo, or Lou Ferrigno. All these serve to do is remind you that there’s a good reason Ferrigno never had many lines in the TV series.…
