I'm a guy who watches too many movies.

Hugh Jackman’s stint as Wolverine may have ended this year, but don’t expect him to go away anytime soon as the actor turns to the Mouse House for his next project. The star-power of The Lion King remake continues to build as Hugh Jackman joins an already stacked cast as the villainous Scar. If your memory of the 1994 original is a little fuzzy, Scar was a flamboyant, scheming baddie who organized the assassination of his brother King Mufasa in order to ascend to the throne. He ruled poorly to say the least (his kingdom went from land of plenty to barren wasteland…

The powers of math and autism live on as Warner Bros. greenlights a sequel to their 2016 sleeper hit The Accountant. Deadline reports that screenwriter Bill Dubuque, director Gavin O’Connor star Ben Affleck, and producers Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark William are all in talks to make their returns along with Jon Bernthal. The fact that The Accountant is getting a sequel may seem a bit random but I’ve done a bit of accounting myself and the numbers add up. The film grossed $86 million stateside and $69 million overseas for a grand total of $155 million dollars. While these aren’t exactly comic book…

The most ungoogle-able action franchise of all time will continue. Despite only grossing $44 million stateside, XXX: The Return of Xander Cage took in $346 million on a worldwide scale (mostly from China). Even if this series is not nearly an economically viable as a certain other Vin Diesel franchise (The world has spent a combined $5.1 billion for those movies about driving fast and furiously), the powers that be in Hollywood have decided that it’s made enough money to justify a new installment. Variety reports that LA based company H Collective has made a few deals with Hollywood producers Sid Ganis…

You know, I don’t know a single person who has told me that they actually liked Daddy’s Home. But somehow it made almost $250 million at the box office (likely due to some suit at Paramount selling their soul to Satan) so we’re getting a sequel this November. The trailer just dropped for this thing and you’ll have to excuse my squeeing. I just can’t contain my excitement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MddEE_tC_w Will Ferrell and Marky Mark Wahlberg are back as the father and stepfather to two kids. Their bitter rivalry from the first film has evolved in a buddy to buddy relationship in which…

We love The Cage here at Screen Geek – even if his last 700 movies haven’t been all that. With that in mind, we couldn’t be more hyped for this new movie he’s just signed up for. Deadline reports that Mr. Cage will star in Mandy -the new film from Beyond the Black Rainbow (don’t worry… no one else saw that one either) director Panos Cosmatos. What sold me on this thing is the pretty sweet premise that seems like it would fit The Cage’s manic over the top acting style. Mandy takes place in the primal wilderness of 1983 where Cage’s character Red Miller vows to…

Well, folks, Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island have grossed a combined $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Meaning of course that we’ll be getting a lot more of these monster movies including an epic showdown between King Kong and Godzilla that has just found its director. The Hollywood Reporter just reported that Warner Brothers is tapping renowned horror director Adam Wingard to direct Godzilla vs. Kong for a summer 2020 release. Wingard popped onto the horror scene with his 2011 film You’re Next. Since then, Wingard has directed the terrific film The Guest and the not so terrific film Blair Witch as well as segments for the anthology films The ABCs of Death and…

Actor Roger Moore has passed away at 89 following a short battle with cancer. The British actor was most known for playing James Bond seven times from 1972 to 1985 in films like The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, and Live and Let Die.  The news was announced via the actor’s Twitter which read: “With the heaviest of hearts, we must share the awful news that our father, Sir Roger Moore, passed away today. We are all devastated.” Moore was born in 1927 in Stockwell, London. He began acting in a collection of small roles in film and television productions before signing a…

Powers Boothe has died at the age of 68. The actor whose career spanned 40 years across film, stage, and television passed away in his sleep yesterday. His friend Beau Bridges confirmed this last night saying: “It’s with great sadness that I mourn the passing of my friend Powers Boothe. A dear friend, great actor, devoted father & husband.” You may not be able to immediately remember who Boothe was, but you’ve certainly seen his work (he does after all have 69 IMDB credits as an actor). His most recent work was as Gideon Malick in the TV series Marvel’s Agents…

Well, folks, the Power Rangers reboot is officially a flop. Two months into its release and the film has grossed a mere $84 million stateside and $135 million worldwide. In comparison, that’s about $10 million less than what Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 grossed in its domestic opening weekend alone ($146 million). Stack those figures against a $100 million budget (not including advertising costs), and it looks like Lionsgate is going to lose a lot of money with this one. There’s a lot of explanations that one could give for the films failure. I like to think that audiences are finally starting to…

If there’s anyone who is winning big in 2017, it’s Stephen King. His latest novel End of Watch enjoyed a long reign towards the top of the New York Times bestseller list, his older stories IT and The Dark Tower are receiving film adaptations, and the trailer for a SPIKE TV series based on his novella “The Mist” just dropped. The trailer has convinced me that The Mist will, if nothing else, deliver on the hardcore creature violence that fans are looking for. In a mere one minute of footage, SPIKE TV has thrown together some of the nastiest images that you’re likely to see on television including…
